Film Posters



For this task, we had to create a film poster. I first took a photo of Georgia and took out the background and played with the saturation and contrast settings to make the light reflecting off Georgia seem more sharp. I then added the text in and turned the "Never Alone" text into a raster layer so I could create a clipping layer on top and add a cracked effect to make the text seem broken. I then added a shadow figure on top of Georgia and turned the blending mode to colour dodge so it made it seem like someone was standing over her. I really like the way this turned out, even though the poster is simple the effect is quite big and it helps give off a dramatic and fear theme. I would make one change though, and that would be to make the background black and then invert the text to make it seem that the subject of the poster was surrounded by darkness.

Package Filming

LINK  For this task, we where given a brief of "Handing over a package", when filming this we needed: 5 close ups, One POV shot, One extreme close up, One camera movement, An establishing shot, A non-cut transition, An eyeline match, and a shot reverse shot. We managed to use all these different types of shot in our filming and we used them to help create certain themes. For example we used an extreme close up on shaking hands to help show the focus and anxiety the character was feeling, another example of using a close-up is when Gemma stepped through the door, however as the viewer does not know whose shoes they are, it creates mystery and suspense. We tried to create a suspenseful film, where an unknown character is holding a package with unknown contents - as the camera comes into focus the character is seen smiling which helps relax the suspense, open the package being opened, it is revealed there is a ring inside, this is successfully achieved th...

1 minute video

 For this project, we had to record a one minute video of what we did on our weekend. on the Sunday, I was at a rehearsal for a show so I reordered part of one of the songs we where doing. I chose to record this because on the Saturday I  was at a con with hundreds of other people who I did not have permission to film.       I filmed this as I forgot the dance many times and I thought filming it would help, I also filmed it as I thought it would be interesting for an outsider to watch. I think the filming went well, even though it is a simple 1 minute video, it does the job of helping me remember the dance. I set the camera up and took a wide shot for the film so I could get everyone in.
