Package Filming

For this task, we where given a brief of "Handing over a package", when filming this we needed:

5 close ups,

One POV shot,

One extreme close up,

One camera movement,

An establishing shot,

A non-cut transition,

An eyeline match,

and a shot reverse shot.

We managed to use all these different types of shot in our filming and we used them to help create certain themes. For example we used an extreme close up on shaking hands to help show the focus and anxiety the character was feeling, another example of using a close-up is when Gemma stepped through the door, however as the viewer does not know whose shoes they are, it creates mystery and suspense. We tried to create a suspenseful film, where an unknown character is holding a package with unknown contents - as the camera comes into focus the character is seen smiling which helps relax the suspense, open the package being opened, it is revealed there is a ring inside, this is successfully achieved through close ups to show the ring and emotion as well as a POV shot. The shot is then reversed to show Gemma's excitedness, which makes the audience anxious as they know that Em does not feel the same. We used this specific shot type to help enhance the emotion that the actors where displaying on their face. We decided to keep the tone of the filming light, and this was achieved through post production through the use of editing and dramatic music, as well as credits with one of the camera men singing. I did this because I wanted it to not be serious as I felt that would make the whole filming process less fun.

I think the filming went well as it displays the emotions really well and helps display suspense of an unknown package being handed over. However, I feel like some of the filming wasn't the best, as sometimes the camera wasn't in focus or positioned properly, which I would improve if we re-filmed in the future.

We were put into small groups of three and brainstormed any ideas that we had through mind mapping and recording our initial thoughts, while simultaneously keeping in mind that we only had 90 seconds...

Research Portfolio

Primary Research Primary research is used to collect data directly, rather than depending on data collected from research that has previously been done. Some examples of primary research include: ·          Questionnaires, ·          Surveys, ·          Audience panels, ·          Self-generated e.g., own video, audio or photographic records of events, This is an example of a questionnaire. Questionnaires allow you to find out information, such as facts, attitudes and opinions. They are a simple way to gather short responses and are easily kept anonymous. However, it can be difficult to gain in depth responses as they are not as flexible as interviews. This was for my screenplay project. A questionnaire was very helpful when looking at primary research, as it gave me an in-depth idea of what people liked about m...
